The MDA LEAD Program is your launch pad into leadership. Designed to help you grow personally and professionally, LEAD supports early-career dentists as they explore leadership opportunities within organized dentistry — and discover their full potential. The deadline to apply is Dec. 3.
What is LEAD?
LEAD — Leadership Exploration and Development — is a 12-month immersive experience for MDA member dentists. It’s designed to build your leadership skills, broaden your understanding of organized dentistry, and help you find your place in shaping the future of the profession.
The program includes:
- Kickoff orientation and leadership training at the MDA Annual Session (April).
- A two-day summer retreat focused on leadership development, team building, and personal growth.
- Virtual leadership sessions featuring guest speakers and expert facilitators.
- Mentorship from seasoned MDA leaders.
- Hands-on participation in MDA governance, including attendance at the House of Delegates.
- A group capstone project focused on advancing MDA initiatives.
- An exclusive trip to the American Dental Association headquarters in Chicago.
- Opportunities to explore committee and board service at the state and local level.

Who should apply?
The LEAD Program is open to all MDA member dentists who want to grow as leaders and give back to the profession. Dentists within the first 10 years of licensure are especially encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply is Dec. 3.
